Part of the Waterleaf faction from the Midwest, Nicole hails from a small town in Wisconsin along Lake Michigan. One day in high school while riding in the car, her grandmother mentioned an architect friend and the conversation led to a lightbulb going off regarding Nicole’s interest in her future vocation. Attention to detail had already been honed through a fine arts background making the addition of drafting classes a natural transition into the world of architecture.
While Nicole still believes in the importance of fine details in design, she fully realized architecture’s potential on a larger scale by engaging communities with socially conscience design during school. Independently, she has remained deeply involved in promoting community generated design locally through Architecture for Humanity and the 1% Program. She is also a familiar face at Waterleaf’s community activities including the Gingerbread Bridge Competition and Friends of Trees plantings.
Nicole is one of Waterleaf’s dedicated bike commuters – and not just fair weather. She has a healthy appetite for outdoor activities of all kinds with favorite adventures including sea kayaking in the San Juans, climbing at Smith Rock, and her newest pursuit, cyclocross racing.
